What causes sweating behind the ears?
Excessive sweating behind the ears may be caused by physiological factors, eczema, autonomic nervous system dysfunction, or other reasons. It is recommended to visit a hospital for examination and diagnosis to determine the specific underlying cause.
1. Physiological Factors
Long-term mental stress, frequent intense exercise, or excessively hot weather can all lead to increased perspiration, resulting in sweating behind the ears.
2. Eczema
Mental tension, excessive fatigue, or skin irritation from allergens such as pollen, animal fur, or ultraviolet radiation may trigger eczema. This causes inflammatory reactions in the epidermis and superficial dermis, leading to symptoms like redness, itching, and skin erosion. In some cases, there may be noticeable exudation of fluid, which could manifest as sweating behind the ears.
3. Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction
Prolonged psychological stress, mental tension, emotional trauma, or being in an angry or agitated state may lead to autonomic nervous system imbalance. This can result in sweating behind the ears, along with other symptoms such as fatigue, body aches, and chest tightness.
