Introduction
Discomfort after urination may be caused by non-disease factors such as consuming spicy foods, or may result from medical conditions such as urinary tract infections, cystitis, or urinary stones. Treatment options include dietary adjustments, medication, and surgical intervention. Patients experiencing discomfort after urination should seek timely medical evaluation to determine the underlying cause and actively cooperate with appropriate treatment.

Discomfort after urination may be caused by non-disease factors such as consuming spicy foods, or it could result from medical conditions like urinary tract infections or cystitis. Treatment options include dietary adjustments, medication, and surgical interventions.

I. Non-disease Factors

Consuming excessively spicy foods, such as chili peppers, may lead to discomfort after urination due to the irritating effects of capsaicin on the body. It is recommended to drink plenty of water, consume adequate protein and vitamin-rich foods to support nutritional needs, and avoid spicy or irritating foods to prevent worsening symptoms. Discomfort after urination may also be related to wearing tight pants or prolonged sitting. Adjusting lifestyle habits accordingly is advised, and medical treatment is generally not necessary.

II. Disease Factors

1. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

Holding urine for long periods, unhygienic sexual practices, or low immunity may allow bacteria to enter the urethra, causing inflammation and irritation of the urethral epithelial cells, leading to a urinary tract infection. Symptoms include discomfort after urination, lower abdominal pain, and difficulty urinating. Patients may take medications such as levofloxacin hydrochloride capsules, amoxicillin capsules, or cefuroxime axetil tablets under medical guidance. In some cases, surgical removal of inflamed tissue may be required.

2. Cystitis

Cystitis may develop due to chronic urine retention, using public baths, or habits such as excessive drinking and staying up late, which subject the bladder to prolonged irritation and inflammation. Symptoms include discomfort after urination, abdominal bloating, and genital pain. Treatment may involve medications such as compound sulfamethoxazole oral suspension, norfloxacin capsules, or fosfomycin calcium capsules, taken as directed by a physician.

3. Urinary Calculi (Urinary Stones)

Discomfort after urination may also be caused by urinary stones, including stones in the ureter, intramural segment of the bladder, or bladder stones. The pain is typically radiating and requires further diagnosis through ultrasound and urinalysis.

If a person experiences discomfort after urination, timely medical evaluation is essential to identify the underlying cause and initiate appropriate treatment. Additionally, patients are advised to maintain good personal hygiene, keep the genital area clean and dry, change underwear regularly, and wear loose-fitting, cotton underwear whenever possible.
