Is having an electronic laryngoscopy uncomfortable?
Electronic laryngoscopy is painless and is a routine method for examining the throat and larynx. It is commonly performed when symptoms such as sore throat, difficulty swallowing, foreign body sensation in the throat, hoarseness, or shortness of breath occur. The procedure is as follows:

1. Register at the otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat) clinic, where the doctor will issue an examination request. After payment, go to the laryngoscopy room and wait for your number to be called.
2. Open your mouth while the doctor sprays local anesthetic into your oral cavity. Hold the anesthetic in your mouth without swallowing it. Alternatively, you may pour the anesthetic directly from the bottle into your mouth and hold it there for about 5 minutes to allow numbing.
3. The doctor will give you a piece of gauze to use for pulling out your tongue yourself.
4. The doctor will insert the laryngoscope through your nasal passage or mouth. During the examination, you will be asked to make a continuous "ee" sound.
5. After the examination, wait outside the laryngoscopy room for your report.
