Liver-soothing and lung-cleansing massage technique
The massage technique for clearing the lungs and soothing the liver helps relieve stagnation, eliminate irritability, reduce excessive heat in the liver and gallbladder, calm internal wind, and alleviate restlessness. It is primarily used for children with internal heat stagnation. The specific steps are as follows:
1. The practitioner uses the fingers of the left hand to separate the child's middle finger, bringing the index and ring fingers together.

2. Then simultaneously push along both fingers, moving from the base of the fingers toward the fingertips.
3. To clear the lung meridian, perform a straight push along the palmar surface of the child’s ring finger, from the base to the fingertip, approximately 100–300 times.
4. To clear the liver meridian, push along the palmar surface of the child’s index finger, from the base to the fingertip, approximately 100–300 times.
Precautions: Although the technique for clearing the lungs and soothing the liver appears simple and easy to learn, parents are advised to perform it only under the guidance of a qualified pediatric massage therapist. Appropriate pressure should be applied, and the child’s symptoms should be properly assessed to determine whether this technique is suitable.
