How to Use Mugwort Mud Moxibustion
When using mugwort mud moxibustion, first remove the lid and heat the mud in a microwave for 2–3 minutes. Take it out and stir thoroughly; depending on its melting state, heat it further until fully melted and ready for use. Mugwort mud moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine method that treats internal disorders through external application. As the name suggests, it is primarily composed of a mixture of mugwort powder and natural volcanic mineral mud, combined with various herbal formulations. The details are as follows:
Mugwort mud moxibustion contains herbal powders that dispel wind and cold, promote blood circulation, resolve blood stasis, and warm meridians to unblock collaterals. After being heated in a microwave, the thermal energy helps the medicinal ingredients penetrate directly through the skin pores into the affected areas and reach internal organs, thereby achieving the therapeutic goals of unblocking meridians, harmonizing yin and yang, and preventing or treating diseases. When using the mud, first remove the lid and heat it in a microwave for 2–3 minutes. Remove and stir evenly, then continue heating briefly according to the melting condition until fully melted and ready for use.
Stir the mud with your finger about ten times to check the temperature. Once it feels comfortably warm, clean the skin and apply a warm towel compress for about one minute. After the skin becomes warm, spread the mud onto the skin, applying it to the "Ah-Shi" points (tender or painful areas) and surrounding regions, with a thickness of approximately 1–2 cm. Then cover the area with a layer of plastic wrap and place an insulating blanket over it. After 40–50 minutes, remove the mud and clean the treated skin.
