Introduction
For nosebleeds caused by "heatiness," local compression is used to stop the bleeding. The main steps are as follows: first, have the patient lean their head slightly forward; then use the thumb and index finger to pinch both sides of the nasal alae and apply upward and backward pressure for about 5–10 minutes. Next, insert sterile gauze or a cotton ball directly into the nasal cavity to apply continuous pressure and stop the bleeding. Applying hemostatic agents such as erythromycin ointment may help prevent re-bleeding.

When nosebleeds occur due to "heatiness," it is generally necessary to stop the bleeding quickly using methods such as acupressure, hooking the middle finger, or local compression. Taking local compression as an example, the specific steps are as follows:

1. The patient should sit or take a semi-seated position, with the head slightly tilted forward.

2. Use the index finger and thumb to pinch both sides of the nasal wings, pressing upward and backward for about 5–10 minutes. Alternatively, splash cold water on the forehead or apply a cold towel to the bridge of the nose to constrict the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa and assist in stopping the bleeding.

3. Insert sterile gauze or a cotton ball directly into the nasal cavity—ideally after identifying the exact site of bleeding—to apply pressure and pack the area for approximately 10 minutes to help control the bleeding.

4. Finally, apply erythromycin eye ointment or other topical hemostatic medications to prevent re-bleeding.
