Introduction
A female erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) of 45 refers to a red blood cell sedimentation rate of 45 mm/h. The normal ESR range for women is less than 20 mm/h; therefore, an ESR of 45 mm/h indicates an elevated sedimentation rate. This may be caused by menstruation, pregnancy, anemia, chronic glomerulonephritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, or other conditions, and appropriate treatment should be administered based on the underlying cause.

Female ESR of 45 refers to a female erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) of 45 mm/h. The normal range for ESR in women is less than 20 mm/h. An ESR of 45 mm/h indicates an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, which may be caused by menstruation, pregnancy, anemia, chronic glomerulonephritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, or other conditions, requiring symptomatic treatment. Specific analyses are as follows:

1. Menstruation: Menstruation is part of the female reproductive cycle and typically involves shedding and expulsion of the endometrial lining. The breakdown of the endometrium and bleeding may trigger inflammatory responses, thereby increasing the erythrocyte sedimentation rate. This is a normal physiological phenomenon and does not require treatment.

2. Pregnancy: During pregnancy, women undergo numerous physiological and metabolic changes, including increased blood volume and immune system adaptation, which may lead to enhanced systemic inflammatory responses and consequently elevate the ESR. This is also a common and normal reaction that does not require special treatment; regular monitoring and prenatal check-ups are sufficient.

3. Anemia: Anemia refers to a condition characterized by reduced red blood cell count or hemoglobin levels. In anemic patients, decreased red blood cell numbers make blood more prone to separation, potentially leading to an increased ESR. Patients are advised to take medications such as iron dextran dispersible tablets or ferrous fumarate chewable tablets as directed by a physician.

4. Chronic Glomerulonephritis: Chronic glomerulonephritis is a kidney disease that usually causes damage and inflammation of the glomeruli, possibly triggering systemic inflammatory responses and resulting in an elevated ESR. Patients are advised to take medications such as cefprozil dispersible tablets or penicillin V potassium tablets as prescribed by their doctor.

5. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks the body's own tissues, accelerating the rate at which red blood cells settle, thus causing the aforementioned condition. Patients are advised to take medications such as methotrexate tablets or mycophenolate mofetil tablets as directed by their physician.

Patients are encouraged to seek timely medical attention when experiencing discomfort and to receive standardized treatment under a doctor’s guidance, which helps promote recovery.
