Introduction
Loofah usually has diuretic and anti-edema effects. As a common vegetable, loofah is rich in dietary fiber and water content, which can accelerate body fluid metabolism and increase urination frequency, thus helping to relieve edema. Although loofah has certain pharmacological effects, these are relatively limited. If swelling is severe, relying solely on loofah will not achieve the desired improvement.

Loofah is generally known to promote diuresis and reduce swelling. However, if a patient's edema is relatively severe, relying solely on loofah may have limited effectiveness.

Loofah is a common vegetable rich in dietary fiber, which helps accelerate intestinal motility and shorten the retention time of intestinal contents, thus aiding in the removal of harmful waste and toxins from the body. Loofah also has a high water content; consuming it in moderation can promote fluid metabolism, increase urination, and help eliminate excess water from the body, thereby exerting diuretic and anti-swelling effects. However, loofah should be prepared in a light and清淡 manner—excessive oil or spicy seasonings should be avoided, as they may diminish its diuretic and anti-edema properties.

As a food, loofah has some pharmacological effects, but these are relatively limited. If a patient suffers from severe edema that persists for a long time or is accompanied by other discomforts, relying solely on loofah may not achieve the desired improvement. It is advisable to seek timely medical attention and undergo laboratory tests such as blood and urine analyses under a doctor’s guidance to determine the underlying cause and condition.
