Can fever patches be used to cool down when it's hot?
Generally, it is not recommended to use fever-reducing patches for cooling during hot weather.
Fever-reducing patches primarily work through the physical process of water evaporation absorbing heat, thereby achieving rapid cooling. They can help suppress the body's temperature regulation center and are characterized by emergency treatment for high fever, safe fever reduction, and brain protection. As a physical cooling product, they are widely used in children with fever due to colds. These patches are intended specifically for lowering body temperature during fever and are not equivalent to cooling patches. They contain certain ingredients with fever-reducing effects; therefore, they should not be used when body temperature is normal, as this may lead to excessive sweating and cause dehydration or other adverse physical reactions. For these reasons, using fever-reducing patches for cooling in hot weather is generally not advised.
During hot weather, you can cool down by using fans or air conditioning, taking showers, or sprinkling water on the floor to help dissipate heat into the air. Additionally, consuming fresh fruits with high water content, such as watermelon or cantaloupe, can also help.
