Introduction
In the early stage after soft tissue injury, ice application is recommended to reduce swelling and relieve pain. After 72 hours post-injury, heat therapy can be used to improve local blood circulation, along with anti-inflammatory treatment. If the injury involves a limb, the affected limb should be elevated to promote venous blood return and help reduce swelling.

The duration of swelling resolution in soft tissue contusions depends on the severity of the soft tissue injury, as follows:

For mild soft tissue injuries, swelling usually subsides within about one week. For more severe injuries, especially those accompanied by local hematoma, it may take 3 to 4 weeks or longer for the swelling to resolve. Swelling primarily involves damage to tissues such as the skin, muscles, and fascia. The regression of soft tissue swelling largely depends on the extent of local injury. In addition, open injuries often involve more severe soft tissue damage along with breaks in the skin or mucous membranes, making them prone to infection and resulting in slower healing—typically requiring about one month.

In the early stage after soft tissue injury, ice application is recommended, which helps reduce swelling and relieve pain. After 72 hours post-injury, heat therapy can be applied to improve local blood circulation. Anti-inflammatory treatment should also be administered concurrently. If the injury involves a limb, the affected limb should be elevated to promote venous blood return and help reduce swelling.
