What causes muscle pain in the left thigh?
Left thigh muscle pain may be caused by intense exercise, trauma, fasciitis, or other reasons.
1. Intense Exercise
If a person frequently engages in intense physical activity without adequately relaxing the body afterward, lactic acid may accumulate and irritate the thigh muscles, leading to noticeable muscle strain and pain. This condition is often accompanied by weakness in the thigh muscles. Symptoms can be significantly relieved through massage, rest, immobilization, and physical therapy. Avoiding strenuous exercise is recommended, and no specific medical treatment is usually necessary.
2. Trauma
During intense physical activity, thigh muscle strains may occur, often resulting in subcutaneous bruising and causing pain in the thigh muscles, which becomes more pronounced upon pressing. Patients may take blood-activating and stasis-resolving medications such as Compound Danshen Tablets, Dieda Sunshang Pills, or Sanqi Injury Medicine Tablets under a doctor's guidance to help reduce pain.
3. Fasciitis
If the thigh muscles are overused, it may trigger fasciitis, which strongly irritates local muscle tissues and leads to symptoms such as thigh muscle pain and swelling. Patients may follow medical advice to use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules, diclofenac sodium sustained-release capsules, or aspirin tablets, for treatment.
