Can injections for growing taller actually increase height?
Whether a person can grow taller from injections depends on their individual physical condition and bone development.
Typically, height-increasing injections may promote growth, and this also relates to the patient's age. Growth hormone is the primary active ingredient for increasing height. If growth retardation is caused by a deficiency in growth hormone, treatment with growth hormone can be effective. However, if the epiphyseal plates have closed, administering growth hormone will not increase height. Conversely, if the epiphyseal plates are still open, growth hormone may promote height gain. Growth hormone is secreted continuously; it remains active throughout childhood into adulthood.
For patients who are in puberty and already growing at a peak rate of about 1 cm per month, the effect of growth hormone injections on further height increase is usually insignificant. If an individual is already experiencing optimal growth velocity, additional growth hormone injections will not enhance height gain. However, for individuals with insufficient or completely deficient growth hormone secretion, exogenous growth hormone administration can help improve height. Growth hormone injections are ineffective for those whose epiphyseal plates have closed, but may be beneficial for those whose plates remain open.
