Can you get up and walk after bone cement surgery?
Patients can usually get up and walk the day after bone cement surgery. The details are as follows:
Bone cement surgery, also known as minimally invasive bone cement procedure, is primarily used to improve spinal stress conditions in patients with osteoporosis, thereby relieving clinical symptoms such as pain, kyphosis (hunchback), and fractures, ultimately achieving clinical recovery. In general, patients may appropriately get out of bed and walk shortly after the surgery. On the second day post-operation, patients can begin walking with the support of a brace, which does not interfere with recovery. However, it should be noted that patients are not fully healed immediately after surgery and should avoid prolonged walking or strenuous physical activities. Adequate bed rest is recommended.
Patients should maintain a healthy diet consisting of light, nutritious, and easily digestible foods, such as bone soup, milk, and steamed egg custard. They should also maintain regular sleep patterns, going to bed early and waking up early, while avoiding staying up late or overexertion.
