Will my ear piercing close up overnight if I don't wear earrings due to bleeding?
Whether an ear piercing will close up after not wearing earrings for one night, in case of bleeding, generally depends on individual circumstances. If bleeding from the ear piercing is not properly managed, the hole may close; however, if inflammation is promptly controlled, the piercing usually will not close.
If the ear piercing bleeds and is not properly cared for, it may become inflamed, damaging the local skin and mucosal tissues and leading to pus discharge, which could block the piercing. However, if anti-inflammatory measures are taken promptly when bleeding occurs, the piercing typically will not close after one night without earrings. When a new piercing shows signs of redness, swelling, pain, or bleeding, the earring should be removed immediately to prevent local infection. The area can then be disinfected using alcohol or iodine solution.
For newly pierced ears, it's important to assess whether epithelialization has occurred locally. If epithelial tissue has formed, the piercing generally will not close even if earrings are not worn for an extended period.
