Can Mei tea really treat chronic pharyngitis?
Mei tea can generally help alleviate chronic pharyngitis as an auxiliary measure, but it cannot cure the condition.
Mei tea is a nutrient-rich food known for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, heat-clearing, detoxifying, anti-aging, and liver-protective effects. Chronic pharyngitis refers to inflammation of the throat and pharynx, usually caused by prolonged physical or chemical irritation. Common symptoms include sore throat, foreign body sensation, and itching. After developing chronic pharyngitis, drinking moderate amounts of mei tea may help relieve discomfort associated with the condition. However, due to its limited effectiveness and the recurrent nature of chronic pharyngitis, mei tea alone cannot provide a cure.
Once chronic pharyngitis develops, patients should first eliminate adverse factors—such as avoiding smoking, alcohol consumption, and exposure to strong irritant gases. They should also limit intake of spicy and irritating foods, use their voice reasonably, and avoid triggers that could worsen or provoke recurrence of symptoms, thereby supporting recovery.
