What should be used to disinfect the inside of the nasal cavity?
Disinfecting the inside of the nasal cavity is usually done under a doctor's guidance using normal saline, physiological seawater, or budesonide.
1. Normal Saline
Normal saline is prepared by adding an appropriate amount of sodium chloride to purified water. It contains only water and sodium chloride, which can achieve a certain degree of disinfection, as well as provide cleansing and moisturizing effects. However, it should not be used too frequently.
2. Physiological Seawater
Physiological seawater is made by mixing purified seawater with pure water. In addition to water and sodium chloride, it also contains trace elements such as silver, zinc, manganese, and copper, offering some antibacterial and anti-allergic benefits, thus contributing to nasal disinfection.
3. Budesonide
Budesonide is a glucocorticoid with potent local anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects. It helps in disinfection and can also alleviate symptoms such as nasal pain and congestion.
In addition, other medications such as mometasone furoate or fluticasone propionate may also be used for nasal disinfection as directed by a physician.
