Should exemestane tablets be taken in the morning or at night?
Exemestane tablets do not have a strict requirement regarding the time of administration, but it is generally recommended to take them after meals.
Exemestane tablets are an antineoplastic agent used clinically for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women (natural or induced menopause) whose disease has progressed after tamoxifen therapy. They are also indicated as adjuvant treatment for early invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women with estrogen receptor-positive tumors who have received two to three years of tamoxifen therapy. There is no strict rule about whether exemestane should be taken in the morning or evening; however, because this medication may be somewhat irritating to the gastrointestinal tract, patients are advised to take it approximately half an hour after eating to avoid irritation and discomfort caused by taking the drug on an empty stomach.
During treatment with exemestane tablets, patients may experience adverse reactions such as joint pain, mild to moderate hot flashes, headache, fatigue, insomnia, and increased sweating. In some cases, exemestane may also lead to serious cardiovascular events including myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, and myocardial ischemia.
