Introduction
Since its market launch, there have been very few case reports of impaired renal function associated with telmisartan tablets, including instances of acute renal failure, particularly in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or unilateral renal artery stenosis in a solitary functioning kidney. Therefore, patients should closely monitor changes in renal function and electrolyte levels during treatment with telmisartan tablets.

Under normal circumstances, telmisartan tablets may cause kidney damage. The specific analysis is as follows:

Telmisartan tablets belong to the class of drugs acting on the renin-angiotensin system and are commonly used for the treatment of hypertension. Normally, angiotensin has a certain protective effect on renal function. However, since its market launch, there have been very rare case reports indicating impaired kidney function, including instances of acute renal failure. Such cases occur more frequently in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or stenosis of the artery in a single-functioning kidney. Therefore, patients taking telmisartan should closely monitor changes in renal function and electrolyte levels. If renal function becomes intolerant to the drug, administration should be discontinued immediately to prevent adverse effects on health.

Patients should also be aware that telmisartan is contraindicated during the late stages of pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or if suffering from biliary obstructive diseases. Additionally, it must not be used by individuals allergic to the active ingredient or any of the excipients in the formulation.
