Introduction
If sleep deprivation persists over a long period, it may lead to autonomic nervous system dysfunction, causing discomfort in the heart. In individuals with heart disease, prolonged sleep deprivation may exacerbate symptoms of cardiac discomfort. Additionally, in those with chronic illnesses, chronic sleep deprivation may impair blood pressure and blood glucose control, potentially triggering cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and resulting in heart discomfort.

Sleep deprivation generally leads to discomfort in the heart.

Sleep deprivation usually refers to insufficient sleep duration or poor sleep quality. After this occurs, individuals may experience symptoms such as fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and reduced efficiency in work or study. If sleep deprivation persists over a long period, it may cause autonomic nervous system dysregulation, leading to cardiac discomfort, manifesting as abnormal symptoms like chest tightness and palpitations. Moreover, for patients who already have heart conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, or cardiac neurosis, prolonged sleep deprivation may worsen their cardiac discomfort. Additionally, if patients suffer from chronic diseases such as diabetes or hypertension, long-term sleep deprivation may impair blood pressure and glucose control, potentially triggering cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and resulting in heart discomfort.

Once sleep deprivation occurs, patients are advised to improve their condition by adjusting their lifestyle—such as trying to reduce stress, avoiding vigorous exercise before bedtime, limiting screen time on electronic devices, and using relaxation methods like taking a warm bath or drinking warm milk to promote better sleep.
