Introduction
Congenital microphthalmia refers to abnormally small eyes present at birth. It can be managed through wearing ocular prostheses, cosmetic contact lenses, or surgical interventions. Wearing an ocular prosthesis helps prevent the impact of the small eye on orbital and surrounding tissue development. Adults may use cosmetic contact lenses for aesthetic improvement. Ocular implant surgery can stimulate the development of the conjunctiva, socket, eyelids, and orbit. Conjunctival sac reconstruction surgery can create a functional conjunctival sac.

Congenital ocular dysplasia usually refers to congenital microphthalmia, which can be managed by wearing ocular prostheses, cosmetic contact lenses, surgical interventions, and other methods to alleviate symptoms.

1. Wearing ocular prostheses: Wearing an ocular prosthesis can prevent the impact of a small eye on the development of the orbit and surrounding structures. Especially in children with very small eyes and no vision, early fitting with an ocular prosthesis is recommended.

2. Wearing cosmetic contact lenses: In adult patients whose orbital and facial development has ceased, cosmetic contact lenses may be used under medical guidance to improve appearance.

3. Surgical treatment: Treatment may include surgery based on the specific condition of the eye and under physician guidance. For example, orbital implantation surgery can stimulate the development of the conjunctiva, socket, eyelids, and orbit. Conjunctival sac reconstruction can create a conjunctival sac to support and protect the artificial eye. Ptosis correction surgery helps prevent amblyopia. Additionally, orbital tissue expander implantation can promote orbital development through expansion forces, correcting a narrow orbit.
