Introduction
Anterior leg pain may result from excessive physical activity or heavy manual labor, leading to strain of the anterior tibial muscles and lactic acid accumulation in the tibialis anterior region. Additionally, intense exercise or prolonged walking can cause traction on the periosteum of the tibia, producing similar symptoms. When a herniated intervertebral disc compresses a nerve root, it can also cause radiating pain in the anterior part of the lower leg.

Anterior leg pain may be caused by factors such as tibialis anterior muscle strain, periostitis of the tibia, or lumbar disc herniation.

1. Tibialis Anterior Muscle Strain: Excessive physical activity or heavy manual labor can lead to strain in the tibialis anterior muscle. When lactic acid accumulates in this muscle area, it may result in anterior leg pain. Symptoms can be relieved through adequate rest or local heat application.

2. Periostitis of the Tibia: Intense exercise or prolonged walking can cause traction on the periosteum of the tibia, leading to the aforementioned symptoms. It is recommended to rest more and elevate the affected limb during rest to improve blood circulation in the lower leg. If necessary, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may be taken orally under medical guidance to control inflammation. Commonly used medications include ibuprofen sustained-release capsules and diclofenac sodium tablets.

3. Lumbar Disc Herniation: When a herniated lumbar disc compresses a nerve root, it can cause radiating pain in the anterior leg, sometimes accompanied by numbness in the foot. This condition can be alleviated with rest, traction, or physical therapy. In severe cases, surgical treatment at a hospital may be required.

In addition, the above symptoms may also arise from trauma or deficiencies in certain trace elements within the body. It is advisable to visit a hospital to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment accordingly.
