Introduction
Congenital heart disease refers to congenital cardiovascular malformations caused by abnormal development of the heart and blood vessels during the embryonic period, and belongs to congenital disorders. Chronic diseases typically refer to non-communicable diseases that develop gradually over a long period due to cumulative damage. Therefore, congenital heart disease does not meet the criteria for chronic diseases and is not classified as a chronic condition.

Congenital heart disease is generally not considered a chronic illness; rather, it is classified as a congenital developmental abnormality.

Congenital heart disease refers to structural cardiovascular malformations caused by abnormal development of the heart and blood vessels during the embryonic stage. It is inherently a congenital condition. In contrast, chronic diseases typically refer to non-communicable diseases that develop gradually over time due to long-term accumulation of damage. Therefore, congenital heart disease does not meet the criteria for chronic diseases and is not categorized as such. Congenital heart disease is relatively common. In children with mild symptoms, early detection and prompt, effective treatments—such as interventional therapy or surgical intervention—can lead to clinical cure. However, in most patients with congenenital heart disease, symptoms tend to increase and the condition progressively worsens with age.

Patients with congenital heart disease should seek evaluation at a正规 hospital and receive timely, appropriate treatment to prevent disease progression associated with aging.
