Introduction
Wet ears are generally treatable, and treatment should be based on the underlying cause. Wet ears may be caused by otitis media; in such cases, patients can usually use topical antibiotic medications under a doctor's guidance, such as ofloxacin ear drops or lomefloxacin hydrochloride ear drops. Alternatively, the condition could result from external auditory canal eczema, which can be treated with antihistamine medications as directed by a physician.

Wet ears are generally treatable, and treatment should be based on the underlying cause.

Wet ears may be caused by otitis media, which is primarily due to bacterial or viral infections. Under inflammatory stimulation, patients may produce increased ear secretions. When excess secretions accumulate in the middle ear, it results in the sensation of wetness in the ear. If not promptly treated, this condition may lead to discharge of yellow fluid or pus. Patients can usually be treated under medical guidance with topical antibiotic medications such as ofloxacin otic solution or lomefloxacin hydrochloride otic solution. Wet ears may also result from external auditory canal eczema, which typically occurs due to contact with allergens. This condition may cause itching of the auricle and surrounding skin. Frequent scratching may lead to minor exudation, causing the ear to feel moist. In such cases, ear secretions should first be gently cleaned with a cotton swab, followed by treatment with antihistamine medications as directed by a physician, such as loratadine tablets or cetirizine hydrochloride tablets.

In addition, patients should maintain good personal hygiene, avoid frequently cleaning the ears, follow a light diet, and refrain from consuming spicy or irritating foods.
