Introduction
Causes of dilatation of the ascending aorta include hypertension, bacterial infection, and arteritis. If a patient is found to have dilatation of the ascending aorta during examination, hypertension due to increased peripheral vascular resistance cannot be ruled out, and blood pressure measurement can help confirm this. When a patient has a bacterial infection, accelerated blood circulation or vasodilation may occur, which can easily lead to dilatation of the ascending aorta.

The causes of dilatation of the ascending aorta include hypertension, bacterial infection, and large vessel vasculitis.

1. Hypertension

If a patient is found to have dilatation of the ascending aorta during examination, this may be related to hypertension caused by increased peripheral vascular resistance, which can be confirmed through blood pressure measurement. After diagnosis, antihypertensive treatment can help reduce aortic pressure and alleviate symptoms of aortic dilation.

2. Bacterial Infection

Bacterial infections may accelerate blood circulation or cause blood vessel dilation, increasing the risk of ascending aortic dilatation. Blood tests are required, and based on the results, anti-inflammatory medications such as cephalosporins or amoxicillin capsules may be prescribed under medical supervision.

3. Large Vessel Vasculitis

Large vessel vasculitis is a common inflammatory condition that triggers the release of inflammatory factors, irritating blood vessels and leading to dilatation of the ascending aorta. Laboratory tests and radiological examinations can aid in diagnosis. After confirmation, treatment may involve corticosteroids and immunosuppressive agents as directed by a physician according to disease severity.

Another cause of ascending aortic dilatation is ascending aortic aneurysm. Patients are advised to get adequate rest, avoid excessive fatigue, and consume a light diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables.
