How to use a COVID-19 rapid test kit
The new coronavirus test strip refers to the SARS-CoV-2 antigen test. If we need to check for infection with the novel coronavirus, we can choose the more convenient and rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen test for initial self-screening. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly with running water under the tap twice before testing to avoid contamination when opening the test kit packaging.
2. First, use a sterile moist swab to gently rotate and clean both nasal cavities. Be careful not to apply excessive pressure to avoid damaging the mucous membranes.
3. Then, remove the nasal swab, slightly tilt your head backward, insert the swab along the nasal cavity 1–1.5 cm, rotate it four times, and repeat the same procedure in the other nostril.
4. Next, place the swab into the sample tube and swirl for 30 seconds. Break off the cotton tip at the designated line, screw on the cap, and add four drops of the sample solution into the test cartridge.
5. Finally, wait 15–30 minutes before reading the result. If both C and T lines appear red-purple, the result is positive. If only the C line appears red-purple, the result is negative.
