How to relieve breast engorgement and promote lactation after childbirth
Postpartum breast pain is a common symptom women experience after childbirth and can be relieved through massage. The specific steps are as follows:
1. First, apply a warm towel to the breasts for heat therapy to promote blood circulation.
2. Then wash and disinfect your hands thoroughly. Use your left hand to massage the right breast, using the palm to massage in circular motions—either clockwise or counterclockwise—starting from the outer areas toward the center of the breast tissue and areola. Begin with gentle pressure and gradually increase the intensity.
3. After massaging for about half an hour, switch to using your right hand to massage the left breast until the breast pain subsides.
Precautions:
The massage technique and pressure used to relieve breast pain should be appropriate to avoid causing injury. Drinking plenty of water regularly can also help alleviate pain caused by milk duct blockages.
Massage for clearing blocked ducts should be performed under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
