Introduction
Do not drink weight-loss tea during your menstrual period, as it may worsen discomfort symptoms. Most weight-loss teas are considered to have a cold or cooling nature and function to clear heat, detoxify the body, moisten the intestines, promote bowel movements, and suppress appetite. During menstruation, women naturally experience increased prostaglandin release; consuming weight-loss tea at this time may lead to menstrual cramps, diarrhea, and other discomforts, particularly due to its laxative effect.

With improvements in living standards, obesity has become increasingly common, especially among women, many of whom turn to weight-loss products to achieve slimming results. But can you drink weight-loss tea during your menstrual period?

Can You Drink Weight-Loss Tea During Your Menstrual Period?

You should not drink weight-loss tea during your menstrual period, as it may worsen discomfort associated with menstruation. Most weight-loss teas are considered cooling in nature and have effects such as clearing heat, detoxifying, moistening the intestines, promoting bowel movements, and suppressing appetite. During menstruation, women naturally experience increased release of prostaglandins. Consuming weight-loss tea at this time may lead to menstrual cramps, diarrhea, and other discomforts. Since these teas promote intestinal movement and bowel elimination, drinking them during menstruation may aggravate gastrointestinal distress and even trigger intestinal spasms, thereby intensifying menstrual pain. Additionally, excessive consumption of weight-loss tea may cause abnormal menstrual flow—either heavier or lighter periods. If diarrhea occurs due to the tea, combined with the already weakened physical state during menstruation, it could lead to dehydration or collapse, negatively affecting women's health. Therefore, it is not advisable to consume weight-loss tea during your period.

Weight-loss tea typically refers to a blend of various teas and herbal ingredients formulated in specific proportions and consumed as a brewed beverage. These teas are believed to enhance gastrointestinal motility and reduce the absorption of fat and cholesterol, thus achieving weight loss, detoxification, and skin-enhancing effects.

Women can consider resuming weight-loss tea consumption 3–5 days after their period ends. During menstruation, it’s better to focus on eating foods that nourish qi and blood. We hope this answer has been helpful. Wishing you good health and happiness in life.
