How to measure body temperature orally
Oral temperature measurement mainly involves placing the mercury end of a mercury thermometer into the mouth. The specific steps are as follows:
1. First, disinfect and sterilize both the mercury thermometer and your hands.
2. Shake the mercury thermometer until the reading falls below 35°C.
3. Place the mercury-filled end of the thermometer under the tongue, and leave it in place for 5 to 10 minutes before removing.
4. Finally, remove the thermometer and read the temperature. To do this, look at the棱 (ridge) located between the scale markings and numbers, with the scale facing upward and the triangular edge facing toward you. You will see a white line of mercury; the number aligned with this line indicates the body temperature. Generally, a temperature above 37.2°C is considered indicative of fever.
