Introduction
Constipation after taking lactobacillus tablets may be caused by insufficient dietary fiber intake, inadequate fluid intake, lack of physical activity, irritable bowel syndrome, hypothyroidism, or other reasons. Appropriate measures should be taken based on the specific situation. It is recommended to promptly visit a hospital and follow medical advice for treatment. Increase consumption of foods rich in dietary fiber, such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.

Constipation after taking lactobacillin tablets may be caused by insufficient dietary fiber intake, inadequate water consumption, lack of physical activity, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), hypothyroidism, or other factors. Appropriate measures should be taken based on the specific cause. It is recommended to visit a hospital promptly and follow medical advice for treatment.

1. Insufficient Dietary Fiber Intake

A diet lacking sufficient dietary fiber may fail to effectively promote intestinal motility even with lactobacillin tablet use, leading to constipation. Increase intake of fiber-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains—including spinach, carrots, apples, bananas, pears, brown rice, and oats.

2. Inadequate Water Intake

Insufficient fluid intake can cause dry and hardened stools, impairing the effectiveness of lactobacillin tablets and making constipation difficult to relieve. Ensure adequate daily hydration—drink at least 1,500–2,000 milliliters of water, consumed in multiple portions throughout the day. Do not wait until feeling thirsty to drink. In addition to plain water, mild tea may also be consumed in moderation.

3. Lack of Physical Activity

Long-term physical inactivity slows down overall metabolism and gastrointestinal motility, weakening the regulatory effect of lactobacillin tablets on the intestines and contributing to constipation. Increase physical activity appropriately, aiming for at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise, such as brisk walking, jogging, or swimming.

4. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

This condition may involve abnormal bowel function. Patients often suffer from intestinal dysmotility and visceral hypersensitivity, which may reduce responsiveness to lactobacillin tablets and lead to constipation. Under medical guidance, medications such as dl-anisodamine tablets, Bifidobacterium triple viable capsules, or montmorillonite powder may be used to alleviate symptoms.

5. Hypothyroidism

Reduced secretion of thyroid hormones leads to decreased gastrointestinal function and slowed intestinal motility. As a result, lactobacillin tablets may not effectively relieve constipation. Under a doctor’s supervision, patients may take medications such as levothyroxine sodium tablets, thyroid tablets, or Yikang capsules to improve symptoms.

Maintain a light diet in daily life and avoid spicy or irritating foods such as garlic, hot pot, and mustard. Also ensure adequate rest and avoid excessive fatigue to protect overall health.
