Introduction
The injection site on the buttocks is commonly selected from areas with thick muscle mass and away from major nerves and blood vessels. The gluteus maximus is the most frequently used site, followed by the gluteus medius and gluteus minimus. Buttock injections are administered via the intramuscular injection method and must be performed by a trained professional. After the injection, redness, swelling, or pain may occur at the injection site. During this period, it is important to avoid contact with water at the injection site.

The injection site on the buttocks is typically selected from areas with thick muscle mass and away from major nerves and blood vessels. The most commonly used site is the gluteus maximus, followed by the gluteus medius and gluteus minimus. Buttock injections are administered via intramuscular injection and must be performed by a trained professional. The specific procedure is as follows:

1. The patient assumes a comfortable position on the bed and removes clothing to expose the injection site.

2. Healthcare personnel prepare necessary supplies nearby, including disinfectant, sterile cotton swabs, syringe, and medication.

3. The healthcare provider stands beside the patient's injection side and disinfects the area, ensuring the disinfected region extends at least 5 cm beyond the intended injection point.

4. Holding a sterile syringe, the provider draws up the medication. One hand stretches the skin tightly over the injection site while the other hand holds the syringe, quickly inserting the needle into the muscle. The plunger is then pulled back slightly (aspiration). If no blood returns, the medication is injected directly into the muscle tissue.

5. The needle is quickly withdrawn, and a dry cotton ball is immediately used to apply pressure to the injection site. After the injection, redness, swelling, or pain may occur at the puncture site. During this time, avoid contact with water and refrain from scratching the area to prevent infection.
