Introduction
Gastric lavage can be performed for sulfur poisoning. First, have the patient lie on their left side, then slowly insert a gastric tube through the nose or mouth into the stomach. Connect the tube to a gastric lavage machine and repeatedly irrigate until the gastric fluid becomes clear. Then clamp the tube before removing it. After treatment for sulfur poisoning, patients should maintain a healthy diet, avoid exposure to harmful substances, regularly return to the hospital for liver and kidney function checkups, and drink plenty of water to promote metabolism.

Sulfur poisoning can affect both the digestive and nervous systems. If a patient accidentally ingests sulfur, gastric lavage can be used as a treatment method. The specific treatment procedure is as follows:

1. First, check the performance of the gastric lavage machine and ensure that all tubing connections are properly secured. Carefully disinfect both hands and instruments.

2. Position the patient on their left side or lie them flat with their head turned to one side. Place a waterproof drape across the chest and position a kidney basin beside the patient's mouth.

3. After coating the tip of a sterilized gastric tube with liquid paraffin, hold the tube with gauze in the left hand, while the right hand, also wrapped in gauze, grasps the tube about 5–6 cm from the end. Gently insert the tube through either the nostril or the mouth.

4. Attach a syringe to the end of the tube and aspirate; if gastric fluid is withdrawn, this confirms proper placement of the tube within the stomach.

5. Connect the tube to the gastric lavage machine, press the start button to initiate automatic irrigation, and continue rinsing until the effluent becomes clear.

6. Finally, turn off the lavage machine, disconnect the gastric tube from the machine tubing, clamp or fold the tube back on itself before removing it to prevent any residual liquid from entering the trachea.

After treatment for sulfur poisoning, patients should maintain a healthy diet, avoid exposure to harmful substances, regularly return to the hospital for follow-up liver and kidney function tests, and drink plenty of water to promote metabolic elimination. Medication use must be guided by a qualified physician, and any necessary procedures should be performed at a正规 medical facility.
