When fever occurs, gastrointestinal function in the human body usually weakens. Gastrointestinal motility slows down and secretion of digestive juices decreases. High-protein foods require sufficient digestive enzymes and good gastrointestinal motility for proper digestion. Fever usually refers to an elevated body temperature.
