What is the pregnancy rate if there was no ejaculation during ovulation?
The likelihood of pregnancy without ejaculation inside the vagina during ovulation generally refers to the chance of conception when a couple has intercourse during the woman's ovulatory period but the man withdraws before ejaculating. In such cases, there is still a 10%-30% chance of pregnancy.
Normally, the probability of pregnancy from withdrawal (coitus interruptus) is relatively low; however, ovulation is a high-risk period for conception. Even with withdrawal, unintended pregnancy can easily occur. Clinically, withdrawal is not recommended as a reliable contraceptive method because it is neither safe nor effective. Even when ejaculation occurs outside the vagina, it cannot be guaranteed that no sperm will enter the female body. As long as sperm enter the cervix and travel through the uterine cavity into the fallopian tubes during intercourse, they may fertilize an egg, resulting in pregnancy.
Therefore, when both partners are not prepared for pregnancy, it is essential to use safe and effective contraception during intercourse, such as condoms or oral contraceptives.
