Luteinizing hormone detection test strips, commonly known as ovulation test strips, are primarily used to detect whether a woman is ovulating. They predict the timing of ovulation by measuring the level of luteinizing hormone in a woman's urine, thereby helping women of reproductive age identify their most fertile period for conception or determine safe periods for contraception. Typically, a woman uses her first morning urine with an ovulation test strip and observes color changes on the strip after a certain period. If two red lines appear, it indicates a high likelihood that she is in her ovulation phase. It should be noted that ovulation test strips may have some degree of inaccuracy. For higher accuracy, medical examinations such as sex hormone panel tests (six-panel) or transvaginal ultrasound at a hospital can provide more definitive results.
