Why do gynecological diseases occur even with long-term abstinence from sexual activity?
Long-term abstinence from sexual intercourse can also lead to gynecological diseases due to disruption of the natural microbial balance. Sexual activity is not the only factor causing gynecological conditions—there are many potential causes, and intercourse is just one of them. It is recommended to seek timely medical care at a hospital and undergo appropriate examinations followed by active treatment.
The female vagina naturally contains normal bacteria and fungi. When external conditions change, when the body's immunity decreases, or when antibiotics kill some of the normal vaginal bacteria, the microbial balance can be disrupted, leading to the development of gynecological infections. Additionally, frequently wearing tight or non-breathable undergarments can trap vaginal secretions and sweat, creating an environment conducive to bacterial overgrowth and increasing the risk of gynecological problems.
Patients are advised to maintain good personal hygiene, regularly change and wash underwear and sanitary products, and avoid spicy, stimulating, raw, cold, or greasy foods. If menstrual irregularities or any vaginal symptoms occur, prompt medical evaluation and treatment are essential—the earlier the diagnosis and intervention, the better the outcome.
