When is the best time to have a B-ultrasound for ovarian cysts?
Ovarian cysts are usually best evaluated by ultrasound shortly after menstruation ends, as this timing tends to provide more accurate results.
Ovarian cysts are a common gynecological condition. Ultrasound examination, especially B-mode ultrasound (B-ultrasound), is currently an important method for diagnosing ovarian tumors. It can determine the location, shape, size, and nature (cystic or solid) of the mass, and help differentiate whether it originates from the pelvic or abdominal cavity, uterus, or adnexa, as well as distinguish between ovarian tumors, ascites, and tuberculous peritonitis. The development of ovarian cysts is closely related to endocrine factors. Generally, ovarian cyst examinations should be performed on days 5 to 7 of the menstrual cycle, when the ovaries are in a resting phase, making B-ultrasound evaluations particularly accurate during this period.
Although ovarian cysts cannot be completely prevented, regular physical check-ups can facilitate early detection, diagnosis, and treatment. Once diagnosed with an ovarian cyst, timely treatment is essential. Although the majority of ovarian cysts are benign, they still carry the potential to become malignant. In particular, the risk of malignant ovarian tumors gradually increases in postmenopausal women. For women who no longer desire fertility, active surgical treatment is generally recommended.
