Why can't clotrimazole vaginal tablets be used continuously?
Clotrimazole vaginal tablets should not be used continuously, as prolonged use may lead to an excessive dosage and cause serious side effects such as a burning sensation of the skin, nausea, diarrhea, or even low blood pressure and shortness of breath, which can significantly affect the patient's health. Patients are advised to use this medication under the guidance of a doctor to avoid either overdosing or insufficient treatment.
During treatment with clotrimazole vaginal tablets, sexual intercourse should be avoided, and consumption of spicy, acidic, or irritating foods is not recommended. Medication must be taken under the supervision of a qualified physician, and frequent or repeated use should be avoided. One week after stopping the medication, it is recommended to return to the hospital for a follow-up test to check whether the Candida infection has turned negative. If the result remains positive, further treatment can be administered under medical guidance. If the result is negative, it is advisable to perform two consecutive routine vaginal discharge tests; if both results are negative, treatment can be discontinued.
If during the course of using clotrimazole vaginal tablets, skin redness and swelling occur, accompanied by local tissue ulceration, this may be due to drug-related side effects. The medication should be stopped immediately, and individuals experiencing severe symptoms should seek prompt medical attention at a hospital.
