Introduction
A hematoma or blood clot is generally self-resolving. Typically, a bruise or hard lump caused by stagnant blood will disappear within about one week. In the early stage, you can apply an ice pack or a cold towel to the affected area to reduce swelling and subcutaneous bleeding, which effectively alleviates bruising and hematoma. Starting the next day, you may apply warm compresses to the swollen area; this helps improve local blood circulation and thereby reduces pain.

Blood clots and hardened masses usually resolve on their own.

In general, a bruised hard lump will disappear within about one week. During the early stage, applying ice packs or cold compresses with a cold towel can help reduce swelling and subcutaneous bleeding, effectively alleviating bruising and hematoma. Starting from the second day, apply warm compresses to the swollen area; this promotes local blood circulation and helps relieve pain. After warm compressing, gently massaging the affected area can facilitate the dissipation of the hard lump.

Monitor the condition of the hematoma regularly. If the patient has no abnormal symptoms, topical applications such as Honghua oil or Yunnan Baiyao ointment may be used under a doctor's guidance. If the hematoma is large and located deep beneath the skin, absorption may be relatively slow; in such cases, medications like Sanqi tablets or Huoxue Zhitong capsules may be taken as directed by a physician. If the body cannot absorb the clot, it may turn into fibrous tissue, forming a relatively firm nodule. In these situations, interventions such as needle aspiration, drainage, or surgical incision may be required to remove the hardened mass.

Patients are advised to maintain a light diet during treatment and avoid spicy or irritating foods to prevent worsening of the condition.
