Pathogen of influenza
Influenza generally refers to the flu. The causative agents of influenza are primarily two types: influenza A virus and influenza B virus.
1. Influenza A virus
This virus causes influenza A, whose common symptoms include fever, chills, sneezing, coughing, and sore throat. It is a type of virus capable of causing pandemics and can infect various organisms including humans, birds, and pigs. It is highly contagious.
2. Influenza B virus
This virus causes influenza B, which is more common than influenza A but generally presents with milder symptoms. Common symptoms include nasal congestion, sneezing, and sore throat. These symptoms typically last about one week and gradually resolve on their own.
