Differences between early pancreatic cancer pain and stomach pain

The difference between early pancreatic cancer pain and stomach pain lies in the triggering factors, pain location, severity, and other aspects.

1. Triggering Factors

Pain from early pancreatic cancer is associated with tumor growth that compresses surrounding nerves and organs, typically occurring after meals. In contrast, stomach pain is closely related to improper diet, often appearing or worsening after consuming raw, cold, or spicy foods, excessive alcohol intake, overeating, or prolonged hunger.

2. Pain Location

Pain from early pancreatic cancer mainly occurs in the upper middle or upper left abdomen, whereas stomach pain is primarily felt in the upper middle abdomen.

3. Severity

Pain from early pancreatic cancer is usually persistent and more severe than stomach pain, which tends to be intermittent.

In addition, severe pain from early pancreatic cancer may lead to decreased appetite and weight loss, while stomach pain may be accompanied by symptoms such as acid reflux and a burning sensation in the stomach.
