Uric acid-lowering oxidase drugs
Uric acid is a byproduct of purine metabolism. Medications for lowering uric acid include allopurinol tablets, febuxostat tablets, and benzbromarone tablets.
1. Allopurinol Tablets
Allopurinol inhibits xanthine oxidase, thereby reducing uric acid production, and is a commonly used medication for lowering uric acid. Some patients may experience side effects such as rash or indigestion after use. Therefore, it is important to drink plenty of water during treatment. If a severe rash develops, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical attention sought. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function are advised not to use this drug.
2. Febuxostat Tablets
Febuxostat is another commonly prescribed uric acid-lowering drug that works by inhibiting xanthine oxidase and reducing uric acid levels. However, it may have certain effects on liver and kidney function. Therefore, liver and kidney function should be closely monitored during treatment to prevent potential organ damage.
3. Benzbromarone Tablets
This medication is primarily used for patients with hyperuricemia caused by impaired uric acid excretion. It is not recommended for patients with kidney stones or severe renal impairment.
In addition, other uric acid-lowering drugs such as probenecid tablets are also available. All medications should be taken strictly under the guidance of a qualified physician. Self-medication should be avoided to prevent worsening of the condition.
