Introduction
Itchy eyes after using eye drops may be due to the eye drops being irritating and causing irritation to the eyes. It could also result from a sensitive constitution with an allergic reaction to the ingredients in the eye drops. Additionally, it might be caused by contact with foreign substances or infections from pathogens such as chlamydia or bacteria leading to conjunctivitis. If the eye drops fail to control the condition, the eyes may continue to be irritated.

Itchy eyes after using eye drops may be caused by drug irritation, allergy, conjunctivitis, or other reasons.

1. Drug irritation

The eye drops used might be irritating, causing discomfort and irritation upon application.

2. Allergy

The patient may have a sensitive constitution and could be allergic to certain ingredients in the eye drops. After use, an allergic reaction may occur, releasing histamine-like substances that irritate the eyes.

3. Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis may result from exposure to chemical substances, sand, or other foreign bodies, or from infections caused by pathogens such as chlamydia or bacteria. If the eye drops fail to control the condition, the eyes may continue to experience irritation.

In addition, other conditions such as hordeolum (stye) could also be responsible. Timely diagnosis and differentiation are recommended.
