Introduction
The maxillary sinuses are located below the cheeks and above the teeth on both sides, specifically in the cheek area beside the nose. The maxillary sinus is a pair of paranasal sinuses situated within the body of the maxilla. Shaped like a pyramid, each sinus contains three cavities that face laterally, medially, and inferiorly. The maxillary sinuses are air-filled spaces within the facial bones. Their functions include reducing the weight of the skull and contributing to vocal resonance.

The maxillary sinus is a pair of paranasal sinuses situated within the maxilla bones. Shaped like a pyramid, each sinus contains three cavities oriented laterally, medially, and inferiorly. The maxillary sinuses are air-filled spaces within the facial bones.

Functions of the maxillary sinuses include reducing the weight of the skull, contributing to vocal resonance, warming and humidifying inhaled air, and assisting in olfactory function. Due to the close anatomical relationship between the upper teeth and the maxillary sinuses, certain odontogenic infections, odontogenic cysts, and odontogenic tumors may involve the maxillary sinuses.
