What causes pain in the middle of the stomach and the navel?
Pain in the middle area between the stomach and the navel may be caused by gastrointestinal dysfunction, chronic gastritis, acute gastroenteritis, or other reasons.
1. Gastrointestinal Dysfunction
This may result from excessive stress or irregular eating habits, leading to impaired gastrointestinal function. Gastrointestinal dysfunction can cause discomfort under the xiphoid process (lower part of the breastbone).
2. Chronic Gastritis
This may occur due to highly stimulating diets or taking medications that significantly damage the gastric mucosa, resulting in chronic inflammatory injury to the stomach lining. Chronic gastritis can lead to abdominal pain.
3. Acute Gastroenteritis
This may be triggered by intestinal pathogen infections, dietary irritants, or accidental ingestion of strong acids, strong alkalis, or other chemical substances, causing acute lesions in the gastric mucosa. Acute gastroenteritis often results in significant abdominal pain.
In addition, conditions such as gastric ulcers may also be responsible. Timely intervention for the condition helps relieve discomfort.
