Introduction
Drinking cold water is generally truly harmful to the stomach. Cold water can easily cause rapid constriction of capillaries in the stomach, leading to cold stimulation of gastric smooth muscles and resulting in spasms, which may cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. This is especially true for individuals with pre-existing stomach conditions, such as gastritis or gastric ulcers. Drinking cold water may re-irritate the stomach and worsen the condition, hindering recovery. Therefore, it is not recommended to drink cold water regularly.

Drinking cold water can indeed harm the stomach.

Consuming cold water may rapidly constrict the capillaries in the stomach, causing the gastric smooth muscles to spasm due to cold stimulation. When such spasms occur, individuals may experience symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. This is particularly problematic for those already suffering from gastric conditions such as gastritis or gastric ulcers, as drinking cold water can further irritate the stomach and worsen their condition, hindering recovery. Therefore, it's not recommended to drink cold water regularly.

If abdominal or stomach pain and other discomforts occur after drinking cold water, medications that protect the gastric mucosa may be used under medical guidance. Additionally, maintaining a balanced diet and avoiding cold, greasy, spicy, or irritating foods is advised.
