Introduction
Long-term consumption of health supplements can easily increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract, impair digestion and absorption, and may lead to constipation. Some supplements contain ingredients such as estrogen and progesterone; prolonged use may cause endocrine disorders and even lead to mammary gland hyperplasia. Other supplements may contain growth hormones, prolactin, and similar substances, which are generally unsuitable for children. Excessive intake by children should be avoided to prevent precocious puberty.

The potential long-term risks of consuming health supplements generally include constipation, breast hyperplasia, and precocious puberty in children.

1. Constipation

Health supplements are typically used to nourish the body. Some contain ingredients such as rhubarb or mirabilite. Long-term and excessive consumption may increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract, impair digestion and absorption, and potentially lead to constipation.

2. Breast Hyperplasia

There are many types of health supplements, some of which contain high concentrations of estrogen, progesterone, vitamin E, and other components. Prolonged use may disrupt physiological cycles and endocrine function, potentially leading to breast hyperplasia.

3. Precocious Puberty in Children

Certain supplements contain growth hormones, prolactin, and similar substances. These are generally unsuitable for children, as excessive intake may trigger precocious puberty.

In addition, long-term misuse may also contribute to infertility. It is recommended to take health supplements only as directed by a healthcare professional to avoid harm to the body.
