Introduction
The eye feels painful, possibly due to a foreign object. Handle either by self-care or seeking medical treatment. Flip the eyelid and blow gently with your mouth or wipe the foreign object away using a sterilized cotton swab. Rinse the eye with clean water; the foreign body will be flushed out by the water flow, and the pain should subside. If the pain is severe, follow a doctor's guidance to remove the foreign object, possibly using an ocular CT scan for localization. Use levofloxacin eye drops and polyvinyl alcohol eye drops as directed by a physician.

If something has gotten into your eye causing significant pain, you can either handle it yourself or seek medical treatment to improve the condition.

1. Self-care

You may gently pull back the eyelid to locate the foreign object and blow on it with your mouth, or use a sterilized cotton swab to wipe out the object. Alternatively, after pulling back the eyelid, flush the eye with clean water; the foreign body will be washed out by the water flow, and the pain will gradually subside.

2. Medical treatment

If the pain is severe, promptly visit a hospital for professional care. Under a doctor's guidance, an orbital CT scan may be performed to locate and safely remove the foreign object. Additionally, follow your doctor’s instructions to use medications such as levofloxacin eye drops, sodium hyaluronate eye drops, or polyvinyl alcohol eye drops to help relieve discomfort and pain.

In daily life, avoid rubbing your eyes if a foreign object enters them, as this may lead to inflammation.
