How long does it take to see clearly after a fundus angiography?
It usually takes 6 to 8 hours to recover vision after a fundus angiography, during which visual clarity gradually returns.
During fundus angiography, cyclopentolate is used for pupil dilation. This medication is an anticholinergic agent primarily used to dilate the pupils and induce ciliary muscle paralysis. After administration, patients may experience symptoms such as photophobia and a sudden increase in intraocular pressure. The elevated eye pressure can lead to eye swelling, conjunctival congestion, redness, and decreased vision. Typically, the drug's effects gradually wear off within 6 to 8 hours, and vision slowly returns to normal.
After undergoing fundus angiography, it is recommended to drink plenty of water to accelerate drug elimination and promote faster recovery of vision. Additionally, avoid exposure of the eyes to bright light and practice proper eye use to prevent worsening of eye discomfort.
