Introduction
There is generally no single best treatment for heel bursitis. Heel bursitis can be improved through rest, local cold and heat application, medication, and other methods. When a patient's joint feels warm or inflamed, appropriate ice application should be performed, alternated with heat therapy, which can help relieve swelling and pain. In daily life, it is important to get adequate rest, strengthen local protection, and engage in appropriate exercise.

There is generally no single best treatment for retrocalcaneal bursitis. However, symptoms can be improved through rest, local cold and heat application, medication, and other approaches.

1. Rest

Patients with retrocalcaneal bursitis should reduce foot activity and prioritize rest to avoid fatigue. Soft materials such as sponge padding can be placed locally to prevent compression and friction. Avoid wearing high-heeled shoes.

2. Local Cold and Heat Application

When the affected joint feels warm or inflamed, appropriate ice packs should be applied, alternated with warm compresses, which can help relieve swelling and pain. Adequate rest, protection of the affected area, and moderate exercise in daily life can improve blood circulation in the heel and alleviate discomfort.

3. Medication

Retrocalcaneal bursitis occurs when the bursa in the heel becomes inflamed due to external pressure or excessive friction, leading to synovial membrane congestion, edema, and increased synovial fluid. This results in local symptoms such as swelling and pain. Under a doctor’s guidance, patients may use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen capsules or celecoxib capsules, for treatment.

In addition, surgical treatment may be considered in some cases. Patients are advised to seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital for proper diagnosis and targeted therapy.
