Introduction
Be alert to four conditions if you experience itching at the inner corner of one eye: dry eye syndrome, keratitis, conjunctivitis, and blepharitis. Dry eye syndrome may result from lacrimal gland damage or previous laser eye surgery. Keratitis occurs when pathogens irritate the cornea, triggering an inflammatory response. Conjunctivitis arises from inflammation of small blood vessels in the conjunctiva, causing them to enlarge and redden. Blepharitis is caused by bacterial infection leading to inflammatory reactions on the eyelid margins.

Itching in the inner corner of one eye may indicate four possible conditions: dry eye syndrome, keratitis, conjunctivitis, and blepharitis.

1. Dry Eye Syndrome

Dry eye syndrome can be triggered by factors such as damage to the lacrimal gland, previous laser eye surgery, or improper medication use, leading to reduced tear production or tear deficiency, which causes itching at the corner of the eye.

2. Keratitis

When the cornea's defensive ability weakens, pathogens can irritate the cornea, triggering an inflammatory response in the corneal tissue and resulting in keratitis. This inflammation can cause itching in the inner corner of the eye.

3. Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis develops when the eye surface's defense capability decreases or external pathogenic factors increase. When small blood vessels in the conjunctiva become inflamed due to inflammatory stimulation, they enlarge and redden, causing significant itching in the inner corner of the eye.

4. Blepharitis

Bacterial infection can lead to inflammation at the base of the eyelashes along the eyelid margin, causing blepharitis. Under inflammatory stimulation, this condition results in itching inside one corner of the eye.

If eye discomfort persists, it is recommended to visit a hospital for a thorough examination to determine the exact cause.
